Your Help Needed For Socio-Economic Survey

Did you get a text about the Maine Lobster Economics Survey? It’s real, not spam.

The MLA has heard lobstermen say the cost of lobstering has gone up and you’re struggling to make a living. We really need to collect this information, so we hope you will consider participating. The survey will be open until March 31 and can be done online using your computer, tablet, or smartphone, or by phone interview. It will take about 30 minutes. You must be at least 18 years old and have landed 1,000+ pounds in 2025 to participate. You can do the survey at www.melobstersurvey.com

Our friends at Maine Center for Coastal Fisheries are managing this project and they have all the protocols in place to ensure your answers are confidential. They are working with Market Decisions in Portland, who will be emailing and texting everyone to announce the survey and then follow-up with a call to a randomly picked sample of lobster permit holders this winter. Survey results will be presented at meetings this summer. This project is funded by Maine Sea Grant Lobster Initiative.
