Nearly 50 friends and supporters of the Maine Lobster Community Alliance (MLCA) came together on the waterfront at Burnt Cove Boil on August 12 for Tides and Traditions, a community “friendraiser” celebrating Maine’s iconic lobstering heritage. Guests enjoyed a traditional lobster dinner while taking in a stunning sunset over the harbor.

Generous sponsors helped make the event possible, including Quirk Auto Dealers, Billings Diesel and Marine, Island Fishing Gear and NAPA Auto Parts, the Stonington Lobster Co-op, and New England Marine and Industrial. Partners Sea Bags, Geary Brewing Company, Pine State Trading, and Poland Spring also lent their support. Local artist Shari Ciomie contributed an original painting to the silent auction, raising additional funds for MLCA’s work.

“Tides and Traditions was a wonderful success. It brought our community together to celebrate what makes Stonington and Maine’s lobster industry so special,” said Kevin Kelley, MLCA’s director of advancement. “We’re grateful to everyone who joined us and to our generous sponsors who made the evening possible."
